The short answer

DoorDash’s US Dasher background-check FAQ directs applicants to Checkr to view report status and respond to information requests. DoorDash gives different timing descriptions in its FAQ: it says most checks are completed within a day, while another answer says the process can take five to seven business days, sometimes longer. These are estimates, not a deadline or a guarantee of eligibility.

A Checkr report marked Complete means the report has been compiled; it does not by itself mean DoorDash has completed its review or approved you to Dash. Check the status and instructions shown in your own account.

How do you check your DoorDash background check?

  1. Review your Dasher signup account and the email address associated with your application for instructions and the screening provider’s name.
  2. If Checkr is handling your report, use the official Checkr Candidate Portal to check its status and respond to a request. Confirm the site before entering sensitive information.
  3. If the portal cannot find your report, check the application details for errors and use the provider’s official support route. Do not assume a missing portal record means you failed.
  4. If the report is complete but signup has not progressed, check DoorDash’s account messages and contact Dasher Support about the eligibility review.

What do DoorDash background check statuses mean?

DoorDash describes several messages in its US FAQ. The message on your own report or signup account is the one to follow:

  • Pending: Checkr is still processing the report. Check for an actual request for additional information.
  • Complete: Checkr has finished compiling the report. DoorDash says this alone does not establish eligibility or mean its review is finished.
  • Clear: DoorDash describes this as allowing the applicant to move to the next signup step; it does not describe every remaining onboarding requirement.
  • Consider: DoorDash says the report has been processed and needs additional review; this is not itself a final eligibility decision.
  • Disputed: Checkr is reviewing a dispute about the report.
  • Canceled: DoorDash says the check was not completed and directs candidates to Dasher Support to request a new check.

These meanings come from DoorDash’s FAQ; do not assume another provider or platform uses identical labels.

Why might a background check take longer?

A report may still be processing, or the provider may need additional information. Check your portal and inbox, including spam, for a specific request. DoorDash says it cannot expedite checks performed by Checkr or provide an estimated completion time for a pending report; ask Checkr about the status of its report.

If information is requested, verify the destination before uploading documents and ask what is required. See secure document submission for practical privacy steps. Submitting unrelated records does not guarantee a faster result.

How do you dispute a DoorDash background check?

Obtain the report and identify the item you believe is inaccurate or incomplete. DoorDash says its pre-adverse-action notice contains information for disputing a Checkr report or providing additional information to DoorDash for consideration. Read your actual notice and follow its instructions; use Checkr’s official dispute route for a report error.

A dispute about accuracy and a request that DoorDash reconsider an eligibility decision are different actions. See background-check errors for organizing a dispute. Neither action guarantees that the report will change or that access to the platform will be granted.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a DoorDash background check take?

DoorDash gives different estimates in its FAQ, including most checks within a day and a process that can take five to seven business days or longer. Your report and account may show a different estimate, and the time for review can vary.

Who should I contact about a wrong record?

Contact the reporting company that prepared the report to dispute an inaccurate or incomplete item, and follow any instructions in the notice from DoorDash. Contact DoorDash about its eligibility review.
